Newport-based Powerhouse Factories is bringing back the popular MidPoint Poster Expo, displaying and selling work by local designers as part of ArtWorks’ Box Truck Carnival on the MidPoint Midway. Powerhouse has commissioned as many as 11 new posters for this year’s MPMF.11 shows.
The Poster Expo will be housed in two box trucks stationed in the parking lot at 12th and Vine streets next to the CAC's Singer/Songwriter Stage. The trucks will serve as exhibition galleries, and each designer will set up merchandise tables between the trucks.
Brian Bergen of Powerhouse Factories has confirmed these Cincinnati area participants in the 2011 Poster Expo:
• Powerhouse Factories (web site), which started in 2004 making posters for their favorite bands and has expanded into branding and marketing work for Procter & Gamble and other corporate clients. They’ll design posters for MPMF.11 performances by The Joy Formidable, Kaki King, Toro y Moi and Xiu Xiu.
• Libre Okay (Etsy site), which designed posters for artists performing at the 2011 MidPoint Indie Summer Series and sold them on Fountain Square. They’ll design posters for MPMF.11 performances by Cut Copy & Washed Out, Deerhoof, Felice Brothers and Okkervil River.
• Keith Neltner and Rob Warnick, who work independently as well as together under the Small Print Studios name (web site). Bergen says he’s unsure if Neltner and Warnick will be designing new posters for MPMF.11 acts.
All MPMF.11 posters will be sold for $20. Older posters will be available for sale for $10 to $50 or more, depending on the artist, the rarity of the work and whether it’s framed.
